In today's global economy, people love to try dishes from other cultures. Cuisine forms a significant breakthrough for cross-culturalism. A major problem people face is the identification of a dish's origin. While searching for local cuisines in a metropolitan city, people often have very few options to choose from. Due to the McDonaldization of the global industry, most local dishes have lost their place due to the competition faced by fast food chains. Hence, below are some of the most treasured dishes from different cultures across the world: 


1. Philippines - Kare Kare

Made from peanut butter, tripe, and vegetables, this delicious slow-cooked stew is a classic dish of the Philipines. Served with shrimp paste and rice, this traditionally unsalted dish is a must-try for people wanting to experience the Philippine culture.


2. Pakistan (Lahore) - Biriyani

Known for their spicy food, the Lahori people are famous for their Biriyani. The flavors and the spices that are added to it are simply amazing. It could be chicken or mutton, whichever a person prefers. This dish is a recommendation for anyone wanting to explore their tastebuds. 


3. Africa (Tanzania) - Sururu

The eastern part of Africa is famous for Sururu, a barbeque dish. It consists of various kinds of meat that are grilled together and served with Chachandu which is tomato chutney and Hajam, which is a type of Paratha. Since it is only available in Tanzania, it’s a must-try for tourists who plan to visit the country.


4. Yemen - Mandi

Known as the pride of Yemen, Mandi is a national treasure containing an explosion of flavors. Meat and rice, blended with various spices are cooked underground in a pit or oven called Mandi. Hence, the dish is named after the same. Today, the dish is so popular across different countries that one can find a Mandi restaurant right down the street. 

5. Nepal - Kodo ka Saag

Cooked in a pressure cooker using Kodo, ghee, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, tomato, and some basic spices like turmeric, salt, and chili powder, Kodo ka Saag is one of Nepal's must-have dishes.


6. India (Kerala) - Porotta and Beef

Known for its coconuts and coastal dishes, Kerala is ultimately known for its Kerala Parotta and Beef. It is one of the favorite combos of Keralites. Tourists too ensure that they have the combo before leaving Kerala due to its jam-packed flavors. 


7. Poland - Pierogi Dumplings

A traditional favorite, generally made for Christmas, Pierogi Dumplings is one of the must-try dishes of Poland. The key ingredients used in this are flour, water, milk or butter, and salt. Stuffed with mushrooms, cabbage, or seafood, it is served with any kind of sauce or sour cream.


8. Jordan - Mansaf

Mansaf represents traditional Jordanian culture based on an agro-pastoral lifestyle in which meat and yogurt are readily available. The main ingredients include meat, and rice and are cooked in a special type of yogurt which is called Jameed. Being a complete meal, Mansaf is usually served with either water or cola.


9. Zimbabwe - Sadza

Sadza is the most common food in Zimbabwe. Cooked in hot water to form a dough-like consistency, Zadza is served with chicken, fish, or beef stew. 


10. Bangladesh - Hilsa Macher Jhol

One of the most famous dishes in Bangladesh, Ilish Fish Curry also called Hilsa Macher Jhol is one of Bangladesh's most famous dishes. The ingredients used to prepare this dish are Hilsa fish, salt, turmeric powder, black cumin seeds, green chilies, mustard oil, and water.  It is often accompanied by steamed rice.
