THE ENTOMBMENT OF LOCAL CUISINES
While globalization did help many cuisines to become distinguished, analogously a considerable lot of local cuisines were also entombed under the sands of time. Food is an emotion of people. It is a feeling of connection and nostalgia. For many people, the taste of the delicacies cooked by their parents and grandparents is a divine taste that cannot be recreated by any Michelin restaurant. Eating food that connects us with our own distinctive culture is what brings actual happiness. While it is amazing to try out the latest trends in the food industry, a spoonful of our native delicacy will deliver a taste of homeliness and love that no other savory can guarantee.
The consumption of fast foods has rocketed to be a trend since the mid-2000s. While fast foods are as convenient as ready-to-go food, the health issues raised by them remain a worry. Not only are they poor in nutrition, but they are also high in fat, salt, and sugar. Consuming fast food like burgers, pizza, fried items, sugary treats, etc. on a continuous timeline can bring about health issues in the body for both a short period and a long period.
Heart diseases, increased blood pressure, a spike in blood sugar, and allergies are common occurrences in people who consume fast food. Obesity is yet another threatening side effect of eating junk food. 13% of the population in the world are obese. Obesity in adults and children has been increasing globally at a very alarming rate. Though globalization is modern and trendy, one must be completely aware of the effects these food items have on the body.
Many local cuisines are made with fresh local ingredients. They are nutritious and also suited to the climate of the respective surroundings. Not only does this support better health, but it also supports the environment as most ingredients are organic.
Though residents have the privilege of eating freshly grown ingredients, expats are often forced to embrace the cuisine of the culture where they live. While it is completely necessary to adjust to your surroundings, giving up on your ethnicity is unacceptable. Globalization can be used as a means to share different cultural norms and traditions. It can also propagate cross-culturalism in a community where people from various backgrounds live together and promote harmony.
